ok guys! Not long to go! If you are not ready for Valentine, you still have a few days to get yourself on the right side of you loved (future) loved one.
If you are in two minds as to whether Valentine’s Day should even be on y our list of priorities, here is something to remember:
It is estimated that we, in the US, are expected to spend an average of $126 on our sweet hearts, loved ones and prospective partners. In fact Valentine’s Day is a $4.1 billion dollars industry on jewelry spending alone so even if you don’t do it for love, do it for your country as any well meaning politician might very well want to endorse! (Survey finds heartening level of consumer spending for Valentine’s Day)
So what would you want as a Valentine’s Day gift?
A night in a luxury hotel is one of the things a lot of couples (hopefully married to or in a relationship with each other). And what do these couples bring along with them?
- Lingerie (64 percent females, 50 percent males)
- A camera (Don’t ask me!)
When asked about the daily “consumption” of their love for each other couples reported:
Women say about: My partner and I make time for romance during vacation:
- A few times during the day (41 percent)
- Every day (31 percent)
- More than once per day (24 percent)
- The first day (5 percent)
Men say about: My partner and I make time for romance during vacation:
- Every day (40 percent)
- A few times during the day(37 percent)
- More than once per day (18 percent)
- The first day (5 percent)

What about those Valentine’s day gifts you know you’ll never get?
Well if you are a woman, you would probably settle for George Clooney (34 percent), Bradley Cooper (18 percent), Will Smith (9 percent)…
And if you are a man, Jennifer Aniston (28 percent), Halle Berry (25 percent), Pippa Middleton (11 percent) would probably make your day!
Yes but I’m not one into commercialism!
Don’t worry. All is not lost.
“There’s something romantic about being spontaneous,” said Taylor L. Cole, APR, director of public relations and social media for hotels.com.
Spending time alone in the company of your loved one works fine for me and the special lady in my life and I am not alone! Wine, good food, chocolate is usually all it takes to get me purring!
What about you?

You’ve raised the flag of challenge and encouragement! I’ve got to start thinking about some special things I can do to make this day special for my wife. I’m on a budget, so I’ll have to find some inexpensive ideas that will still make her feel special

I hope you will surprise her in a way that she will enjoy! And men love Valentines’ Day too you know. It is another opportunity to cement the love they feel for their wife or girlfriend.

Aye.. I am not ready. To be honest with you, I dread these “official” days of love where our affections are measured by the gift you give. Valentine’s Day was supposed to be an intimate affair. It is now part of main street businesses who will use any excuse to make a few bucks, even it is on the backs of lovers everywhere!

Yeah, I like your suggestion. Wine, good food and chocolate. It doesn’t get much better than that. It’s always perplexing to me on how to bless my hubby on Valentines day w/o spending a fortune on a new motorcycle! lol For the guy, there are more options I feel. But for us women, it’s a bit more challenging……if you want to think outside the normal “box”. If you know what I mean.
Great post Stevie,
Happy Valentines day,
Lynn

Well, if i do know what you mean, then the two of you are heading for a wonderful Valentine’s Day indeed!

Truthfully, I never celebrate Valentine’s Day. Well, it has been a long time… since grade school. I think because I can go out and give things anytime for the sake of showing my love, Valentine’s Day holds little sway over me. Last year I remember that by the evening of Valentine’s Day I realized what day it was…lol.

Like I have said, we should all aim to make every day of our life a Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day this year coincides with Ian’s and my 30th wedding anniversary! I don’t know what we’ll be doing yet, but whatever it is, it will be special because we love spending time together.

It seems that you and Ian form the kind of couple that enjoy Valentine’s Day every day of the year! And good on you too!

I do not think I am ready, but I could get ready any time, also, i do not have great expectations for a gift – though would be happy with some pretty earrings, I would love to just have one day when I feel loved and cared for.

I hope you get those pretty earrings, although if you are even luckier, a day where you will feel loved and cared for would be even better, even if it is then followed by most of the 365 other days (and beyond) that will follow .

I am ready for Valentine’s Day. And I am very excited too.

Good replies in return of this query with firm arguments and telling all about that.

Those stats about Valentine’s Day are impressive, thanks for sharing! I agree, it’s a day about love not buying expensive gifts.. even though we all enjoy them
